What do I do if my candidate says their PPA report is invalid in Assess Accredited?

Learn what to do if your candidate says they have completed their PPA assessment, but it is showing as invalid in Assess Accredited.

About 1-2% of profiles come back with an invalid result. This means that the scoring system has not identified any meaningful patterns in a candidate's responses.
There are several reasons why a profile may come back as invalid:
  • They may have been overthinking their responses.
  • They may have answered randomly, which is possible if they were sceptical about using the assessment.
  • They may not have a stable reference to consider for their behaviours. E.g., if they are in between jobs or going through a period of change. This could make it harder for them to identify the behaviour adjectives they feel best describe them.

An invalid profile does not mean the candidate did anything wrong or purposefully tried to work around the assessment. They should be reminded about how the assessment will be used and make it very clear that no decisions are made based on assessment outcomes alone.

You can also ask them about the context they were thinking of when they completed the PPA -  was it appropriate/relevant?

If a profile returns an invalid result twice, we do not recommend profiling for a third time. Other methods should be used to assess their behavioural style.
