How research is carried out at Thomas
At Thomas, we believe that continuous learning and evidence-based practice are essential to improving the workplace experience. Research plays a key role in how we develop and refine our assessments, ensuring they remain relevant, fair and scientifically grounded. We collaborate with academics, students and researchers to explore how people thrive at work, what drives performance and how we can better support individual strengths.
Our approach to research
Thomas is committed to advancing occupational psychology and improving how psychometrics is used to support people at work. We work with academics, students and researchers to explore areas such as fairness in psychometrics, individual strengths at work and how to create environments where people perform effectively.
One part of this work is the Thomas Research Panels. These panels consist of volunteers who choose to take part in research studies. Each study helps address important research questions, and participants gain insights into the topic, such as personality or work preferences.
How the panels work
Panel members are invited to take part in studies throughout the year. Each invitation email outlines the topic and estimated time required. Most studies involve an online survey that can be completed on a computer or phone.
Participation is entirely voluntary. Members may choose not to take part in any study and can leave the panels at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting psychology@thomas.co.uk.
What participants receive
Personalised feedback is provided to each participant after completing a study. This feedback varies depending on the topic and is explained in the invitation email. It may include insights into personality, creativity, emotional responses or coping strategies. All feedback is based on academically validated measures.
Participation is voluntary
Joining the panels and participating in studies is optional. Participants may withdraw at any time without giving a reason.
If signed up by mistake
To be removed from the panels, click the unsubscribe link in any panel email or contact psychology@thomas.co.uk. This action only removes the individual from research communications and does not affect any other communications from Thomas.
