Understanding fluid intelligence

Thomas' Aptitude assessment helps predict a person's general or fluid intelligence, and how quickly they can learn new information or grasp the fundamentals of a new role.

When assessing aptitude, both speed and accuracy are equally important, and candidates are measured according to deductive, perceptive, numerate, articulate and conceptual abilities.

Percentile Ranking

Results for each sub-test are shown as a percentile ranking. This compares the candidates' scores to a sample group of the population to give the score meaning.

A percentile ranking of 60 indicates the candidate can process new information faster than 60% of people in the sample.

Adjusted score

The adjusted score takes into consideration any potential guessing that took place when completing the assessment.

Always consider the purpose of the assessment and the context to which it will be applied, as both high and low scores can be suitable for different job roles or work environments.
